Sema 2015

Belonging to Mark Gearhart, the idea of building this car began 30 years ago as a childhood dream. Becoming a reality has been a journey and nearing the end is only months away with a showcase at SEMA 2015 and seat time at many road courses in 2016! The foundation was chosen from Factory Five Racing and the rest is history. With hand picked parts and a rendering only seen in movies, this car has nothing but the best in store. Although 3RD Gear Customs and Consulting hasn't played a part in fabrication or mechanical, I'm truly humbled to have the opportunity to complete the fit and finish. Factory Five RACING R Spec

 With over 300 hours in body and paint, I'd say this is by far my best work. I may not have a state of the art paint booth but as I utilize old school clean room methods and don't rush......this is what you get. Painting a fiberglass car with this many curves isn't only tricky... it can be scary. Mark wanted a 90% flat and a super uniform finish. This is not a project to take lightly. After getting the body 100% straight the real fun began. After spending 6 hours mixing the perfect color Mark gave me approval to move forward. Gray, graphite, green pearls, blue pearls and a few other mystery colors Sherwin Williams water was layed down. 4 coats of high gloss clear was put on only to wet sand every bit of orange peel out of it in order to prepare for the final flattened clear mixture. You wont find a single piece of trash or a single bit of metallic out of place! I cant thank Mark Gearhart enough for giving me the opportunity to prove my worth.
